The nuptials are generally the star of your big day but the food is definitely a major co-star. Their are a few points you want to consider when composing your wedding menu that will make it shine and not be a boring tasteless wedding banquet.

Add elements of your personality to the menu.

Your culture and upbringing can be reflected in the nights meal. Items that mean a lot to you and your partner. Add a menu card to your table settings explaining the menu choices and how they reflect the happy couple for a nice personalized touch.

From vegans to gluten-free diets.

Take into consideration guests with dietary concerns. Find out early - after invitations have been sent out - for your guests to communicate any allergies or special requests to accommodate their diet. Your venue/caterer will also appreciate this. They can adjust menu items to ensure everyone gets what they need and that no one be left with a plate of veggies due to last minute changes.

Cocktail hour and late-night snacks.

Following the main course your wedding will be a long and eventful night. Consider providing some delectable passed appetizers or a charcuterie & cheese board to be available during cocktail hour after your ceremony. Your guests will love to nosh on these items while you and your partner are taking advantage of golden hour for photos. Planning for some late night snacks is also a phenomenal idea as guests will be looking for some salty and sweet treats as the night progresses. Having something unique as the late night snack like a poutine bar or having a local food truck stop by serving Korean Tacos can be a memorable way to keep the party going.

Plated or Buffet?

While a plated 3 course dinner is a more formal way to have your wedding dinner served, a buffet is a way for your guests to have a larger array of food choices that will fit their personal tastes. Having a plated dinner ensures that you have a number of entree choices. Be sure to get your guests meal preferences to the caterers as soon as possible.
