This is my latest project, an ad for Subaru, which is the automobile manufacturing division of Japanese transportation conglomerate Subaru Corporation (formerly known as Fuji Heavy Industries), the twenty-second largest automaker by production worldwide in 2012.. For those who don’t know, a spec ad is a “fake” ad,  made for portfolio and to showcase the director/DP skills. I recently purchased the Blackmagic Pocket 4K and paired with my Sigma 18-35mm EF Mount Lens, I figured it would be fun to test them out in a proper way. That’s why I thought about a spec ad that I could film and edit pretty quickly. My buddy Caleb has been a fan of Subaru's for quite some time, and I have been pushing for a chance to create this piece with him for a while now. The shoot began at 2pm on January 1st, and is being delivered to youtube at 6:30am on January 2nd. All the car shots were completed without any lighting. All the house shots were completed with a single Aputure Amaran AL H160 and a single sheet of diffusion. Total shooting time was around 2-3hrs, which includes the time it took to drive to our locations. Editing took around 4 hours, and colour grading was finished fairly quickly in under an hour. Sound took quite some time, as almost all the sound was completed using sound effects and foley. All shot in BRAW 3:1, 4K 16:9, 24p.
